Day 2: How You Read – Paperback? Hardcover? Ereader? Smartphone? Bookmarks, note taking in the margins, or highlighting? Tell us some of your reading rituals!
Ooh this is gonna be a fun and short one! I’m all over the place when it comes to reading. I’ve got a Kindle Paperwhite that I absolutely love but hasn’t been touched since I bought my new iPad. Between my iPhone and iPad, I’ve got a majority of the ereader apps. Most often though, I flip between Kindle and iBooks depending on the format I received or purchased. Mom calls me her “tech child”. I just like to try new devices that make my life easier. I can read, play games AND work on the iPad?! Yes!! I am on the road with the band a lot so having several books in one place not taking up room in whatever vehicle we’re in is always a bonus! That being said, I’m a HUGE fan of physical books also. Just something about them that makes it so the shelves in my house are overflowing. Except for that one in my bedroom because my cat likes to take the books off the bottom shelf if I don’t feed him at 5am. Every. Stinking. Morning. Back to how I read though. I don’t have a set way. I’ve even got some books on the Kindle (and apps) AND in print because I love them so much! I like to SEE the books. Might not even be about reading that one again in print, although I definitely do re-read them when I’ve got time or an itch.
As for taking notes, it depends on the format I’m reading. Amazon makes it easy with the Kindle apps and I highlight a lot when I remember that the feature exists. If it’s a print copy, I’ll put notes in my phone or email myself or even write it on a post-it! Overall, nothing too spectacular. Just whatever I have with me at the time. 🙂
