#BookBlogWriMo 2014 – The Good Ol’ Days of Hello Precious Bliss

Posted November 1, 2014 by karaneheits in Reader Vault / 4 Comments

Hi y’all! It’s day one of #BookBlogWriMo! I can’t say enough just how excited I am to participate in this event!! Without further adieu…

Day 1: History of Your Blog – Tell us how you got started! When did you start your blog? Why? What have been some of your trials and tribulations? How many pigs did you have to sacrifice to get people to see your Facebook posts?

Hmm. I’m not sure many people actually know this story, so 4 of the 5 who read this, congrats! You’re getting new info!! Mom, if you read this, you probably don’t know it either. Also, Hi! 🙂 Hello Precious Bliss was originally created as a life blog to chronicle my path of finding myself. It was New Years Eve 2010 or 2011 (sheesh, I don’t even remember now) and I was sitting in my teeny living room in my first apartment closer to the cities. For me that was a huge step as I’ve always been a small town girl. So I was sitting there, thinking about resolutions and all those fun New Year thoughts one thinks while sitting home with her cat. Alone. On New Years Eve. (This was pre-merch-girl-band-manager time.) Trying to figure out what I could do in a new apartment with no friends living in the same area. *Lightbulb* I’ll start a blog! I sat there the entire night attempting to come up with a cool name. I wanted something different and to reflect the “new me”. “Hello”. Ok good. Hi to the new me. What else? “Precious” was one of the words a blog name generator (yeah, I went there) came up with. Life is precious. Perfect! “Bliss”. In finding the new me, I was hoping to find peace with my life and a place that was just mine. I wanted to find my bliss. Hello Precious Bliss. Well, to begin with it was “Hello {Precious} Bliss” because I thought the little { dfskldjflskdjf } made it look cute. Dropped that quick. Became too much to type. Anyways, the original “Hello {Precious} Bliss” on Blogspot was a #MAJORFAIL. I didn’t write one post. Not one. But I did keep it open. I have no clue why. I’m guessing I got lazy. Ha!

Fast forward a few years, a few failed relationships and one band (still with them, they actually like me!) to February 2014. No wait, I need to backup to the age of 3 or so. Mom will be able to put a date to this, but since I was little, no clue. I’ve ALWAYS been a reader. Book-It from Pizza Hut was one of my favorite things. To this day, I still talk about my favorite books from my childhood. Y’all can read about that later though. Back to February. One of my favorite authors in my adult life (Gemma Halliday) was asking for reader/reviewers for a book that her company was publishing. Of course I said yes. Why wouldn’t I? I LOVE her!! An old friend had a book blog once so I said “Huh. I’ve got this blog here that isn’t being used. I’m gonna post my review there! Reading is bliss for me!!” So I did. Then another author that I adore (Rachel Schurig) asked for reviewers for her new book. Then another, and another, and so on! My first review post was February 23, 2014. My second was April 29. After that, they became more frequent. Until a couple months ago when I decided to start my own promotions company. I’ve read several great books in that time, but my posts have been lacking. But! Book Bumblings and #BookBlogWriMo have lit a fire under me and I’m working to get organized. My 5 loverly readers will see a great increase in posts now! They might not all be book-related. I’ve got a Hello Precious Nephew now. He’s 6 weeks old today and I got to spend a few hours with him (and his momma and daddy) so this post is getting in JUST under the wire. You’ll see a recipe or two and probably a post about the band on occasion. I love showing my boys off!! 😉 Also, somewhere in there, I added a co-blogger, purchased a domain name, added another co-blogger and lost a co-blogger. In July, I decided to move to a self-hosted WordPress site and I LOVE IT!!!

Ok. 3 minutes until tomorrow so I’m signing off! Have a great rest of the weekend, lovelies!!!

Here’s a pic of my baby snuggles nephew, Logan! Because…BABY!!! 🙂
