Yes. I’m going to start every stinking birthday blog post with this gif from now on. No. I do not pop out of bed like Lily does. I could only wish I had that kind of energy at 4am!
I was planning on recording my first vlog style video/post/hello/it’smybirthday whatever today and when I got home, my camera decided to let me know that the battery was “exhausted”. Me too, battery, me too. So instead. You’ll get the expanded version of what were my vlog notes.
At one minute after midnight (just over four hours from now in Minneapolis), I turn 35. You’d think that would be scary to say, right? Surprisingly, it wasn’t. For some unknown reason, I’ve been saying that I’m 35 for a few weeks already so maybe I’m just used to hearing–thinking?–it. I’ll try to keep this short, but I wanted to say hi and give y’all a “super update” on all that is Karan.
In junior high, I thought by the time I turned the “old age” of 35, I’d be married, have a kid or five, and living in a glorious house. Unless someone appears behind me with a ring and kids in tow, that definitely didn’t happen. But I’m ok with that. I am extremely blessed have an amazing family and hundreds of friends all over the world who have become family even though we’ve never really met! I have a little business with a few regular clients and can’t wait to grow this into a full time gig and be able to travel and meet everyone! I’m working on writing my own novels after a lifelong addiction to books. I closed on my new (definitely glorious) house on Friday and spent four and a half days moving, unpacking, and organizing. I’ll have my office set up by the end of the weekend so I can work efficiently and (spoiler!) crank out quality content, videos, books, courses, graphics, websites, and everything else that I have planned for the next few years. (Oh yes. I’m a big planner!) I’ll keep everyone in the loop as new things are ready and will reach out occasionally for input also. Get your thinking caps on because questions are coming!
Back to my birthday though. Long day at the office tomorrow, dinner with the parents, long evening at the home office. Exactly how I would want it. 🙂 To end this no-so-short post, here is the last pic of me as a 34 year old. Smiling. Because despite all of the bad that has happened in the last 365 days, there has been so much good also. So much love and support and warm fuzzies (yup…I’m cheesy tonight…) and old and new friends and run-on sentences that one can’t help but smile on the cusp of “closer to 40 than 30.” Thank you to all! Thank you for your support. And ignoring the crap in the background.

Happy birthday Karan!
Thanks, Renee!! <3
It’s so weird cuz I always think 35 was the magic number too. I’m kind of at that point where I’m like, so if I don’t have kids, am I okay with that? Am I okay with hopefully, maybe, someday being AMM’s daughter’s stepmom? I’d like to think so… Do I long for growing a human because damnit I can; kinda sorta, but if it doesn’t happen, it’s not the end of the world. We’re both still pretty damn awesome. Happy Birthday!
We are too much alike. At least you have a secondary option which will be just as amazing. 🙂
