Why do you write? How long have you been writing?
Writing is pure joy for me, it’s my escape, my happy place! Even when I’m not writing, I’m thinking about writing; either my characters, and what they’ll face when I’m back on the laptop, or twists I can add to the plot. It’s the most enjoyable kind of torment you can have in your life! I’ve been writing for six years now, though it feels like only yesterday I took that first creative writing class when my boys were babies!
Tell us a bit about your current project(s).
I’m working on Secrets at the Maple Syrup Farm which is a stand-alone book set in the same town as the Gingerbread Café series. I’m excited to write something new with new characters, but even better, there’ll be glimpses of the characters from the Gingerbread Cafe books! It’s a love story about two people who are adrift in the world because their secrets have held them back. If they want to move forward they’ll have to reconcile their past.
What genres do you write? Which do you read?
I write contemporary romantic fiction, largely romantic comedy. I read the same, but I also like a good thriller every now and then.
Do you self-pub, have a publisher or both?
I’m published with Carina UK, and I am very happy in my home there!
Is there anything special you’ve got going on right now (or in the near future) that we should know about? Promotions, sales, etc?
I do but it’s a secret! However, Christmas Wedding at the Gingerbread Café has just been released. It’s the third and final book in the Gingerbread Café series. I’m a little adrift at the thought of never writing anymore of Lil and CeeCee’s stories! I love those girls like they’re real!
Any advice to aspiring authors?
Write every day, even if it’s only a paragraph or two, you’ll end up making it into a habit! And also I found Stephen King’s book On Writing a great tool! So get yourself a copy of that!
