Why do you write? How long have you been writing?

I’ve been a writer since I was at school and wrote my first (unpublished) book when I was a teen. The book was about a vampire who falls in love with a high school girl, I guess I was before my time!

My first book was published in 2013 and since then I have 8 books in total published, my ninth due in December.

Tell us a bit about your current project(s).

I’m currently writing the Blue Phoenix series, contemporary rock star romance books. Although they have a few steamy scenes, these aren’t your typical “sexy” rock romance books. They’re set in England and have rock stars, bacon sandwiches, secret holidays, snarky girls, sexy guys, a Disney princess and a whole lot of love from readers! http://lisaswallow.net/the-books-bluephoenix/

What genres do you write? Which do you read?

Contemporary and paranormal romance

Do you self-pub, have a publisher or both?

I now self-pub. I did pub with a small e-publisher but chose to switch to indie.

Is there anything special you’ve got going on right now (or in the near future) that we should know about? Promotions, sales, etc?

Book 4 in the Rising series just released!!

Any advice for aspiring authors?

Read (but you probably have that covered!)
Finish writing something – a book, novella, short story – whatever it is, you will have a sense of achievement that will make you take the next step. NaNoWriMo helped me!
Read about craft so you understand what makes characters flat or why stories drag, so you can avoid it.

Find supportive writer friends who’ll understand you when other people think you’re crazy or self-indulgent!
