You’ve got a Facebook page, right? Yes? Good. (If not, read this post, and
I’ll argue about that with you we can discuss that later. ;)) For those that do, here are five ways to update your Facebook page right MEOW.
⓵ Update your page’s avatar (that little square image next to all of your posts).
Updating your avatar is a VERY quick and easy thing to do. You don’t need professional pics or a face full of makeup. Comb your hair and smile pretty for the selfie camera on your phone. It’s a snap! *snort*
⓶ Update your cover photo.
Recently, Facebook updated page layouts, and while they made a slight change to the cover photo size (now 828 x 315), they gave us MORE room in our cover photos! We can utilize the entire space now! Take advantage and create a new cover photo! Does your cover photo have all of your books and current info on it? Do you have a new release coming? Add that cover too (or a placeholder “coming soon” cover)! Are your books available on Audible or KindleUnlimited? Have the seasons changed since your last cover photo went up? Lots of ideas and lots of ways to make this quick update.
⓷ Update your visible about section.
Are you an indie, trad pubbed, or hybrid author? What genre(s) do you write? How many books do you have published? When is your next release? This little space can share so much info for your visitors! Pack as much in as you can!
⓸ Claim your Facebook Page Username (if you haven’t already).
As long as you have 25 likes on your page, you can create a username for your page. It shows up underneath your avatar and page name and also creates a pretty link for you to share with your followers! It would be good to keep things consistent and make it as similar as possible to your Twitter or Instagram usernames (if possible). All of my handles are @karaneleniwrite. You can add that to the end of the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest links to find me!
⓹ Create custom icons for your apps section on the right.
Branded icons make this little section stand out on the lower right side of your page. Those little pics are super easy to create and sized at 111 x 74 px.
Now if that seems like too much to do, break it down into one task each day next week. I spent more time writing this post than I did updating these bits on my page. Easy peasy! Just think about how pretty and full of current information your page will be! Info at your readers’ fingertips.
Don’t want to tackle this yourself? No problem. As part of my new Virtual Assistant Program, these tasks (and much more) can be integrated into a monthly to-do list that I can do for you! Click here for more details. I’ve also got an a la carte shop with individual and packaged graphics. Swing over and check those out too!
