I met Becky Monson in one of the Facebook groups that I frequented when I became a book blogger and she has become a great friend. She has dubbed herself “the big sister” (which is totally awesome because I don’t have one of my own) and has been an amazing help when I have a Photoshop question. Recently, I listened to Speak Now: or Forever Hold Your Peace (read my review) and absolutely loved it! Now that book three in The Spinster Series is out, I’m hoping for a week where I can have a Spinster reading marathon!
About Becky as an Author
What inspired you to write your first book?
Truthfully? Boredom. I was bored out of my mind at my job and the so the story started there. What I started with was not what the story turned into, though. But in my experience so far, that’s what seems to happen with all of my books. They take on a life of their own.
What genre do you consider your book(s)?
Chick Lit, or Romantic Comedy. I even probably fit into Women’s Fiction as well.
How do you beat writer’s block?
Chocolate and tears. Truthfully, I just take a break. Maybe read a book or do something with friends, and then I can usually get back to it.
Julia Dorning from my Spinster series is a lot like me. She’s way more neurotic than I am, or maybe that’s just what I tell myself.
About Becky’s Recent Release, Thirty-Four Going on Bride
In THIRTY-FOUR GOING ON BRIDE, Julia is kind of a disaster. Some of the emotions she experiences throughout the book, are actual emotions I had myself. Anxiety is real, people! Real, and can be pretty scary. The message in this book is to take time for yourself, and be honest with how you are feeling. Holding it all in can only lead to disaster.
