What's on Page 45? with Maggie Le Page

Faith Carson, the heroine of my latest book, The Trouble With Dying, isn’t having a good day. It was bad enough when she woke up outside her body, but it’s been hours and she’s still floating around in limbo.

Gran keeps popping in from Heaven with advice, but so far Faith’s only managed to move from the ceiling to the floor and now she’s stuck. Down here at floor level she’s having to contend with a whole new set of problems: people walking through her and arguing across her and generally acting as if she isn’t even there. Which, to them, of course, she isn’t.

Who are they all, anyway? Why can’t Faith remember? What happened? You’ll have to read The Trouble With Dying to find out! But since today’s spotlight is on page 45, I can divulge that by this point Faith’s patience is wearing thin.

I’ve tried, really I have. For hours I’ve calmed my mind and wished and prayed and focused hard, I’ve visualised, I’ve thought teleportation thoughts, I’ve bargained with God, and have I shifted? No. Not so much as a worm’s-length. What if I never work it out? How will I make it back to my body, wake up, live the rest of my life?

Then Gran reappears with a flippant comment, and Faith sees red.

“Oh, hello. Nice of you to show up.” It sounds barely civil, even to my ears.

Gran shrugs, flicks her now-frizzy red-tipped locks off her face. “No point me being here until you’re ready to move.”

“Ready to move? Ready to move?” My jaw tightens. “You’re so busy doing fifty shades of hair . . . Do you have any idea what I’m going through?”

“I might have an inkling.”

I barely register she’s spoken. “I’ve been ready to move ever since I woke up in this nightmare. I’m desperate to move.”

Will Faith’s frustration drive Gran away? Does Faith make it back to her body and work out who the delicious man at her bedside is? Sorry, can’t tell you! You’ll have to read the book for yourself! (He looks a little bit like this though…)

Yes, that is Hugh Jackman. No, I do not own the picture. 🙂

Blurb – The Trouble With Dying

When Faith Carson wakes up on a hospital ceiling looking down on her body in a coma, it’s a bad start to the week. A very bad start. She has no idea who she is or how she got there or why, and the biggest mystery of all is why she married the schmuck who wants her ventilator switched off.

As if that’s not enough Faith has a dead gran haunting her, a young daughter missing her, and one devilishly delicious man making her wish she could have a second chance at life. And maybe she can, if she finds a way back into her body and wakes up by Friday. But if she doesn’t, this will be her last bad week—ever.

Nate Sutherland decided long ago he’d settle for friendship if he couldn’t have Faith’s heart. But now, as she nears death, he’s going to have to listen to his feelings in a whole new way—and act. Because if he doesn’t, this week will be the worst damn week of his life. He’ll lose everything he’s ever loved.
